Coordinator for the HR Department at the Defence Staff

About the Department

The position is located in the HR Department at the Defence Staff and is led by the Personnel Director. The Personnel Director has operational responsibility for the Swedish Armed Forces' employer policy under the Chief of Defence Staff. This responsibility includes leading and coordinating work on the Armed Forces' employer brand, collective agreements, employment conditions, and salary formation, as well as proposing how the Armed Forces should conduct equality, equity, and gender mainstreaming. Preparation of matters concerning leadership supply and leadership development, as well as appointments to higher positions requiring decisions from the Chief of Defence or the government, are other areas of responsibility. The department consists of four sections: the overseas section, the employer development section, the leadership supply section, and the conditions section, as well as a staff. The role of coordinator belongs to the staff section, and you will report to the head of staff.

Main Responsibilities

In the role of coordinator, you will serve as a special support to the Personnel Director within the framework of all the department's areas of responsibility. You will coordinate and be the contact person as well as convening regarding tasks, assignments, and other matters. You will be responsible for distributing, processing, assigning, and following up on incoming tasks in the Armed Forces' case management system. Furthermore, you will contribute to driving development and change and producing presentations and communications related to the department's areas of responsibility. Together with the head of staff, you will also follow up on compliance with governing documents and assigned tasks to the department.

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

  • A relevant university degree or other education in combination with work experience that the Armed Forces considers equivalent
  • Current and relevant experience of similar tasks within a government agency
  • Good knowledge of administrative law
  • Good ability to communicate orally and in writing in Swedish and English
  • Good IT skills

Meritorious

  • Current and relevant experience from the Armed Forces
  • Experience in project management and/or change management
  • Education in project management and/or change management

Employment form: Permanent employment, 6 months probationary period applies (for those not employed within the Armed Forces)

At the Headquarters, the Chief of Defence and the Director General are located. The Headquarters has approximately 1,000 employees – both professional officers and civilian experts. As of 2023-01-01, the Headquarters consists of the Defence Staff, operations management, military intelligence and security service, as well as the Headquarters' staff department and independent supervisory units.

Employment with us means placement in a security class. Usually, Swedish citizenship is required. A security screening with a background check will be conducted before employment according to Chapter 3 of the Security Protection Act. With employment comes an obligation to be placed in wartime. The nature of this varies depending on the type of position.
